Having spent more than a decade importing most of the well known and successful skeg boat designs from the UK, we are unanimous in describing the Xcite as easily the best of the lot.
Designed by Aled Williams, built at the impeccable Charger Composites factory in Thailand, where all of the bulletproof Tiderace Sea Kayaks came from, this Xcite has had a life, but still has plenty in her yet.
The fact that we've held onto it for so long is testament to our sentimental regard for the magic in this hull. As a surfing, play style sea kayak, with capacity for light touring and surprising speed in rough water, the Xcite is a brilliant design.
It's no longer available from the new Tiderace regime, and is something of a unicorn.
We've given her a buff and a tidy up, she has some battle scars and badges, but nothing even remotely structural.
For less than the price of a production-line plastic recreational kayak you could be paddling this performance legend.
