Originally designed by Australian sea kayaking luminary Dave Winkworth, the Nadgee Solo is now being manufactured in Australia by Expedition Kayaks. Now with a modernised deck to bring it into line with the Audax series.
A sea kayak with impeccable pedigree, having been piloted along the coast on many expeditions of note, including an entire circumnavigation of the continent by Jason Beachcroft & Stuart Truman, this is a design for the people.
Solid and predictable on the water, built for an easy cruising style, with huge stability and a reassuring manner in the rough stuff, the Nadgee Solo is a great option for paddlers looking for a kayak that will look after them on the water, with enough fun factor for a good day playing in the waves & rocks.
It features an extremely hard tracking hull, so much so that the rudder is largely superfluous to directional stability, and an inherently strong chined shape. The seat is Dave Winkworth's original carved foam design, formed into a generic shape that is simple to modify to each individual paddler's needs.
The keyhole cockpit provides and easy entry and exit from the kayak without sacrificing good points of contact for bracing, edging and rolling.
Now built with two oval KajakSport hatches fore & aft, with a 20cm day hatch to keep small items handy. A moulded flat section just aft of the forward hatch is designed for a Deck compass (so please note, the deck section of the review above is now redundant, the second video has the current layout!)
We've added our innovative, robust BigFoot plate system, and an EK backband, and a build quality that is every bit as well finished and strong as our Audax, Aurora and Azure.
